(23/09/22)  Xiamen Airlines has placed a firm order for 40 A320neo Family aircraft, becoming Airbus’ newest customer.

The deal was announced by China Southern Airlines, as the major shareholder, to the Shanghai Stock exchange.

Headquartered in Xiamen, in the southeast coast of China, Xiamen Airlines was founded in 1984.

A member of the SkyTeam airline alliance with carrier code “MF”, the airline normally has an annual passenger traffic volume of nearly 40 million passengers and has more than 10 million members on its frequent flyer program – Egret Miles.

Xiamen Airlines normally operates around 350 domestic and international routes, a network that covers the whole of China and a lot of Southeast and Northeast Asia and even covers Europe, America and Oceania.

As of January 2020, the size of Xiamen Airlines’ fleet reached 206 airplanes with an average age of 6 years, making it one of the youngest fleets in the world.

The A320neo Family incorporates new generation engines and Sharklets, which together deliver more than 25 percent fuel and CO2 savings, as well as a 50 percent noise reduction.

The aircraft also feature Airbus’ Airspace interior, which brings the latest cabin technology to the A320 Family to deliver the most comfortable flight conditions for passengers.

At the end of August 2022, the total number of A320neo Family firm orders reached over 8,500 from more than 130 customers worldwide.
